Scottish rock bands Acrylic and Mt. Doubt release remixes of their new 7″ split single Where I Lie/Mouthwash released through Scottish DIY label, Scottish Fiction.

Both remixes are by Novasound – who are critically acclaimed producers Audrey Tait (formerly Hector Bizerk) and Lauren Gilmore (formerly Bella and the Bear) who bring something special to both tracks.

Audrey said of Acrylic’s Where I Lie, “Fundamentally, it’s a great song with a really strong vocal so we built around that. We wanted to make it a bit more electronic without delving into dance music so we started with a half-time beat and changed the instrumentation from a guitar-based track to piano and strings. We were inspired by the atmospheric intro of the original and aimed to develop our remix into a more cinematic piece.”

For Mt. Doubt’s Mouthwash the producers wanted to create a contrast to the original upbeat track.  Audrey explained, “We increased the tempo and started with some manic drums! Doing live drums for a remix was something new for us and, with quite a short turnaround, we played to our strengths by arranging everything around drums and piano. Rather than just underscoring the full song differently, we focused on our favourite part which was the chorus.”

Both these remixes will only be available for download along with purchasing a copy of the split single on 7″ vinyl.

The single is out officially on 15 September 2017 and you can pick up a copy via Scottish Fiction.
