Broken Chanter is the brand new solo guise of David MacGregor – principal songwriter of celebrated Scottish Alt-Pop band Kid Canaveral.

In the last days of Winter 2018, MacGregor isolated himself in spots around the Highlands and Islands, recording skeletal demos in Ardnamurchan and Skye before decamping to a remote house on a peninsula jutting into the Atlantic from County Donegal.  These sessions and recordings make up the debut album from Broken Chanter.

The first taster of this eagerly-anticipated album is the pulsating single, Wholesale.  An audacious and deft indicator of MacGregor’s new direction and Broken Chanter’s musical manifesto, Wholesale is available now as a digital download and limited edition 7″ vinyl on 24 May, with the eponymous debut album being released into the world in September 2019.
