The Felice Brothers, The Botanic House, Inverness

Saturday 25th June 2022.

One of the finest acts from the Folk-Alt-American scene, The Felice Brothers rolled into Inverness on a balmy summer night, to play a mesmerising set in the city’s Botanic House.

I was a bit apprehensive about what audience Inverness would send on the night, or if at all.  The Felice Brothers deserve an attentive crowd but Inverness can be prickly when turning up to shows and this was one of these bookings that could go either way.

Thankfully Inverness, you did yourselves proud with about 150 hushed fans showing their love for this memorable rolling roots-rock performance. The crowd adorned the band with love, cheers and whisky with the occasional malt being passed to the front of the stage for band to sample. Segueing perfectly into  “Whiskey In My Whiskey”.  The fans who gathered for this gig in Inverness were all about the music, and it made for a great experience.

It was an exhilarating  journey through their back catalogue, opening with the wide screen sounding, “Jazz On The Autobahn” from 2021’s acclaimed, From Dust To Rust (possibly their finest work to date) to the glorious sing-a-long, “Frankie’s Gun”.

With spellbinding storytelling and stunning musicianship this was quite simply one of the gigs of the year.
