Inverness Set for the Blues as New International Festival Launches in the Highlands

The Highlands are set to welcome a major new live music event this spring as the inaugural Inverness International Blues Festival arrives in Inverness. Taking place at Northern Meeting Park on 28 March 2026, the one-day festival will bring an impressive lineup of international blues talent to the heart of the city, with live music running from midday through to late evening.

Headlining the debut event are legendary Texas blues-rockers The Fabulous Thunderbirds, whose decades-long career and gritty sound have made them a staple of the global blues scene. They’ll be joined by acclaimed Memphis outfit Southern Avenue, known for their energetic blend of blues, soul, and gospel that has earned them a growing international following. Also on the bill is Grammy nominated bluesman Alvin Youngblood Hart, whose electrifying mix of Delta blues, rock and roots music has made him one of the genre’s most respected performers

Organisers say the festival aims to celebrate the deep roots and evolving energy of the blues while bringing world-class artists to the Highlands.

For blues fans across the north of Scotland, the festival promises a rare chance to experience authentic, big-stage blues without leaving the Highlands—and could mark the start of an exciting new chapter in Inverness’s live music scene.
