Abbie Gordon: Singer-Songwriter Lighting Up the Scottish Music Scene
At just seventeen, Irvine’s own Abbie Gordon is rapidly becoming one of the most talked-about young talents in the Scottish music scene. With a voice that captures attention and a natural gift for songwriting, Abbie is proving to be a rising star with a bright future ahead.
Abbie performed a “secret” set for Netsounds at The Tomatin Bothy at this year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.
Abbie’s musical journey began when she was only six years old, inspired by the songwriting of Taylor Swift. Her passion for performing initially found an outlet in dance and musical theatre, where she honed her stage presence and confidence. However, it was during the 2020 lockdown that Abbie began to truly explore her musical abilities. With extra time on her hands, she started experimenting with piano and guitar, drawing inspiration from artists like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Lizzy McAlpine, and Inhaler. This period of self-discovery revealed her natural talent for songwriting—Abbie quickly found her voice, creating songs that are both honest and relatable, with melodies that flow effortlessly.
In January 2023, Abbie made her live debut, touring Scotland with Hit The Road, a platform dedicated to nurturing new talent. Her performances were nothing short of captivating, and it wasn’t long before word of her talent spread. As a result, Abbie found herself performing at some of Scotland’s most respected venues and festivals, including Belladrum, the Poetry Club, Glad Café, Room 2, The Bungalow, and Sneaky Pete’s.
