BB Would Approve: Main Street Blues Bring the Three Kings to Life at Eden Court
Main Street Blues Band came to Eden Court last Friday with their tribute to the Three Kings. If you have not already guessed, the three kings in question are BB, Freddie, and Albert King.
I think this is the third time I have caught Main Street Blues at Eden Court, and on each occasion I come away remembering why I love the blues so much. Derek Smith is front and centre of the group, with his deft and educated fingers effortlessly delivering blues solos from all three kings so well that I genuinely think BB would approve. Complementing Derek’s playing beautifully was a superb two-piece brass section, alongside drums, bass, and the Hammond organ, beautifully played by Dot Allan.
An almost full house lapped up the magical music of the Three Kings. Eden Court is really the only venue left around Inverness that can put quality work like this on, so let’s make sure we support Eden Court to ensure they can continue to bring us performances of this standard. Keep an eye out for the summer “Under Canvas” sessions for more high-quality live music to enjoy.
