Glasgow indie band wojtek the bear mark their return with new single, “Second Place on Purpose,”.
The song is part of their newly announced album, “Shaking Hands with the NME,” scheduled for release on April 12, 2024, by Last Night From Glasgow. Produced by the acclaimed Stephen Street (known for his work with The Smiths, Blur, New Order), this album marks the band’s return since their well-received 2021 release, “Heaven by the Back Door.”
“Second Place on Purpose” delves into the personal revelations of songwriter Tam as he navigates fatherhood, capturing the profound shift in his perspective following the birth of his son. Tam reflects on this transformative experience, stating, “I think at our core, people are generally unintentionally pretty selfish, so it was really eye-opening for me to have this innate feeling that there was this tiny person around now who I would literally do anything for.”
