The Hit The Road initiative took young Scottish bands, The Cherries, Pitnamoon and Scunnurt on the road in February.
The three bands played dates in Inverness, Aberdeen and Glasgow in February as part of Hit The Road, a project run by Scottish Music Centre and funded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) and PRS Foundation providing early-stage musicians age 14-19 the opportunity to learn about the live industry before embarking on a professionally managed tour.

Ahead of each tour, musicians attend expert masterclasses, sessions and workshops covering everything from production to performance, royalties and marketing. Hit The Road equips young musicians with the knowledge, contacts and tools necessary to work and crucially, tour within the modern live sector.
On the touring line-up was Paisley’s Scunnurt who released their debut EP Orange Peel was released via legendary student record label Electric Honey Records last year, with mature subject matter covering topics including; anxiety, self confidence and corruption. They were joined by North East Scotland band, Pitnamoon who are relative newcomers to the music scene having only formed last year. In addition to this tour the band have already played live radio sessions and plan on releasing a home-recorded album later this year.
Inverness band, The Cherries completed the line-up for an impressive early Sunday evening crowd in Inverness. The Cherries released their debut EP Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time followed by singles No Energy and Summer Dreams, picking up support from New Found Sound and Amazing Radio.
