The Gathering Festival in Inverness, on the 1st of June was vibrant celebration of traditional Scottish music, dance, and culture.
Held annually in the heart of the Highlands, this festival has quickly become a must-visit event for locals and tourists alike. The 2024 edition, was held in the Bught Park and once again showcased an impressive lineup of bands, solo artists, and dancing, making it a truly memorable experience.
From the moment you step into the festival grounds, the atmosphere is electric. The sound of bagpipes and fiddles fills the air, creating a joyous and welcoming ambiance. This year’s lineup included well-known acts like Skerryvore and Torridon, alongside emerging talents like Cala who brought fresh energy to traditional tunes.
There is also a real sense of community spirit at The Gathering with music sessions for the kids, trying out a traditional instrument and the family ceilidh learning a few steps of Highland dancing.
The festival also celebrated local beers and whisky withe the Meet The Makers sessions.
And this year, the sun shone all day at the new temporary setting for the festival adding to the long list of ticks that makes it a standout event in the Scottish cultural calendar, leaving attendees with lasting memories and a deeper connection to Highland heritage.
