And he’s back……!

Dylan Tierney I mean, he’s back. No one has seen or heard him since I think MacMoray due to being busy with life etc. so I was delighted to see that he was due to play in one of Eden Court’s sublime “Under Canvas” sessions with a full band. I was not going to miss this.

The “Under Canvas” session in question was Thursday 1st August just past, and having managed to adequately recover from 3 days covering Belladrum last weekend (I say adequately…I mean barely) I was more than ready enjoy some music from Dylan & Co.

Weather wise you could not have asked for a better summer evening in Inverness for Dylan & co’s session, his music was a perfect antidote for anyone with post Bella Blues but more importantly the songs and music were quite simply perfect for such a summer evening. Dylan’s set was so tight and brilliantly delivered it’s difficult to believe he’d been away for a while, we were treated to a new song or two along with his more well-known songs, as mentioned earlier they were delivered brilliantly and eagerly enjoyed by not only the full tent of people but also the folks sitting outside who just had to stop and listen.

At this stage of my ramblings I feel a need to point out that Dylan has done something brilliant, at some point as a solo act he realised for his music and song writing to be properly realised he needed to have a quality group of musicians supporting him that understood his mission and he has achieved this in spades. Bringing in the deft educated fingers of Kenna Ross on the key boards along with a guitar player of the quality of Ben Hesling is a winning move straight away, couple that great move with bringing in Ashley Mackay (She’s a Cosmonaut don’t you know!) to sing not only in her own right but also to harmonise beautifully with Dylan’s voice and then get the likes of Adam Goemans on bass with Marc McKie on drums giving Dylan a perfectly metronomic back line is simply a brilliant piece of work, kudos to you Dylan.

More new and exciting stuff coming from Dylan soon I reckon, I can’t wait to hear whatever it is.

P.S. if someone from Belladrum is reading this may I suggest a prime slot on a good stage for Dylan & Co for 2025 would be an excellent idea? No really….I must insist.
