Ahmed Dickinson & Los Chichanos Bring Cuban Guitar and Latin Rhythms to Under Canvas

Netsounds’ Alan Cruickshank was at Eden Court’s Under Canvas on Friday 24 July 2026 to capture two contrasting performances that highlighted the breadth of this year’s summer programme.

Ahmed Dickinson opened the evening with a captivating display of Cuban guitar, combining outstanding technical skill with expressive, melodic performances rooted in the rich musical traditions of his homeland. His intimate set showcased the artistry that has earned him recognition as one of the leading performers of the Cuban Guitar Movement.

The energy lifted with Los Chichanos, whose vibrant blend of Peruvian cumbia, chicha, Afro-Latin rhythms, Cuban son and Brazilian grooves transformed the space into a celebration of tropical sounds. The Edinburgh collective delivered an infectious performance full of colour, rhythm and feel-good energy, bringing a memorable close to the evening.
