Under Canvas at Eden Court: Liza Mulholland & Metagama Friends – Photo Gallery
Our first visit to Eden Court’s Under Canvas this summer saw us catch the second half of the evening, featuring Liza Mulholland & Metagama Friends, together with the talented young musicians of Fèis Spè. Set beneath the festival tent on the banks of the River Ness, the evening showcased just one of the many concerts that make Under Canvas such a popular part of Eden Court’s summer programme.
The set opened with an impressive performance from the young musicians of Fèis Spè, who showcased the strength of emerging traditional music talent in the Highlands. They were followed by Liza Mulholland, joined by Charlie McKerron, Willie Campbell and John Joe MacNeil, for a celebration of songs and tunes inspired by their acclaimed production Metagama: An Atlantic Odyssey. Together they delivered a rich mix of contemporary songwriting, traditional Gaelic song and exceptional musicianship.
Here’s a selection of photographs capturing some of the music and atmosphere from the night.
Under Canvas continues until 30 August, with performances taking place Wednesday to Sunday each week. The festival features an outstanding programme of folk, traditional, contemporary, jazz, world music and more. Tickets are available through Eden Court’s Pay What You Can scheme, helping to make the festival accessible to as many people as possible, with advance booking recommended as capacity is limited.
