Scottish Electro R&B band KOBA have curated our latest guest mixtape.

The Edinburgh/Glasgow based band released their latest single Rush, on 10th February 2017 via INSTRMNT Records and it marks a comeback for the atmospheric electronic outfit.

The band have taken the unique approach of working remotely, “this means that the songs are fresh to us when we leave the studio and nothing feels stale or old” they explain.

Rush is available to buy now via iTunes.

1. Young Fathers – Get Up

Feels like we should kick this off with a song from a Scottish band and our Edinburgh neighbours Young Fathers.  Following the Mercury Prize win in 2014, G, Kayus and Ally have recently featured heavily on the new Trainspotting 2 soundtrack.  The original was hugely famous for its soundtrack so it shows just how important a band these guys are.

2. Ali Robertson – Something About Your Love

We recently found this track by Scottish singer/songwriter Ali Robertson. A great tune that had us hooked.  We instantly invited Ali to perform with us at an Edinburgh show.

3. Natives – Stop The Rain

Natives a band from the New Forest near Southampton, good friends of ours and currently out on tour with Busted!  If you’ve not checked them out do so and the live show is very impressive with some great live sounds!

4. Banks – Better

This song is a really unusual, almost “anti-pop” song. The dirty swelling synths really grab your attention as well as the haunting and heartfelt vocals from Banks which are stunning.  Stands apart from a lot of her more commercial tracks.

5. Jamiroquai- Automaton

Good to see Jamiroquai back with a bang.  Listened to this track loads since it’s release and still trying to get my head round it.  Great tune!

6. IS TROPICAL – On My Way

IS TROPICAL seem so underrated!  If you’ve not heard of them get listening, one of the ultimate party bands, the song we’ve chosen here is a very chilled, dark track, great vocals and melody.  Great live act as well!

7. Majid Jordan – Something About You

Love Majid Jordan’s self titled album and the dark production of this track really resonates with us

8. Anderson Paak – Come Down

We love the bass line it’s a good party tune, saw Anderson at ABC2 in Glasgow last year & the show was insane!  He’s supporting Bruno Mars this coming Spring and I hope I can catch a show!

9. The XX – Hold On

You’ve got to love The XX!  New album is full of tunes and Hold On was the first release from the album. If you’ve not heard it play the full full album, then go onto Jamie XX’s solo stuff, it’s sublime!

10. Jungle – Time

Always makes me move, again another party song and if you’re not aware of Jungle I’m sure you’ll heard of some of the songs on TV and Radio.  Been out for a while now, but the album is full of hits!
