Surprise performances and an eclectic mix of artists brought The Tomatin Bothy at Belladrum to life once again
The Netsounds Sessions returned to The Tomatin Whisky Bothy at this year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and once again, it was a huge success.
For another year, the Bothy became a hub of intimate live music, with an eclectic mix of artists dropping in throughout the festival and creating a real buzz around the sessions.
One of the things that made this year particularly special was the element of surprise. The artists appearing in the Bothy weren’t announced in advance, so festival-goers never quite knew who might turn up for a session. From Seffi Rose, Scotstown Dance Band and Eva Still to Mark Hegan, Niamh Maclennan, Janet Devlin, Fright Years, Jarad Rowan, Elias Alexander and Scott C Park, there were plenty of unexpected musical discoveries.
The sessions continued with Tom Collins, Liv Dawn, Kezia Gill, Michael Lewis, Patterson Barrett, Dr Wook & The Hollow Pines and The Tuesday Accord, with each bringing something different to the intimate Bothy setting.
It was this eclectic mix combined with the surprise appearances that created such a fantastic atmosphere throughout the weekend. The Bothy was regularly packed, with people squeezing in to discover an artist, stay for another session and see who might appear next.
Away from the main festival stages, the Tomatin Bothy provides a unique opportunity to see artists up close and capture performances in a much more intimate setting. It’s become a special part of the Belladrum experience for both the artists and the audience.
A huge thank you to Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, Tomatin Whisky and all of the artists who made this year’s sessions such a memorable weekend – and to everyone who packed into the Bothy and helped create the atmosphere.
